The Berrien County Board of Commissioners has voted to seek refinancing for a south county drain project after complaints its current interest rate is too high.

The Michigan House has approved a $3.1 billion road funding plan drafted by Republicans and supported by a handful of Democrats. Among the Democrats to vote for the package Wednesday was state Representative Joey Andrews, who tells us it may have come from the opposing party, but he sees value in it.

Unit 1 of the Cook nuclear power plant in Bridgman will be taken offline at 3 a.m. this Saturday to begin its 32nd refueling outage.
