Beyoncé is the leading nominee for the 2021 Grammy Awards, which were announced yesterday. Her nine nominations are three more than her nearest contenders, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch. Queen Bey’s secret weapon turned out to be her feature on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage,” which gave her the three nomination edge. The bulk of her nods came from her single “Black Parade,” which is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song. She also picked up two in visual categories — Best Music Film for Black Is King and Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl.”
The awards ceremony, which will be hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS on January 31st.
Goo Goo Dolls have a new hour-long special based on their new holiday album.
It’s Christmas All Over With the Goo Goo Dolls will debut December 12th on Fan Tracks. It features the band playing songs from It’s Christmas All Over along with other selections from their catalog. It’s billed as the “first-ever augmented-reality movie musical” and you can see some of the special in a new trailer on YouTube.
Ed Sheeran’s giving thanks to the hospital that cared for his grandma in the last months of her life — with a big donation that will help the facility care for more.
He gave about $15,000 to Aldeburgh Hospital’s music and arts program, which is used by dementia patients and those with special needs and audio-visual disabilities. Ed talked about his experience with the hospital in a recent book about Britain’s National Health Service, saying, “I was lucky enough not to be on tour during my grandmother’s final months, and because I lived locally I was able to visit her every few days.”
